Sales & Use Tax Exemption

Property Tax Abatement

  • Residential systems receive a 100% exemption on added property tax value

  • Commercial/non-residential systems receive an 80% abatement on the tax on added value

Solar Easements

  • Florida law allows homeowners to establish easements to protect solar access and prevent shading or obstruction


✅ Utility & Local Incentives

Solar and Energy Loan Fund (SELF)

  • Provides unsecured personal loans for homeowners to fund solar installs (low/moderate income focus)

Local Utility Rebates & Loans

  • Various cities and co-ops (e.g., Tallahassee, Orlando, Miami-Dade, Fort Pierce, Keys Electric Coop) offer solar hot water rebates and low-interest loans


✅ Policy & Standards

Net Metering

  • Mandatory under Florida law (systems up to 2 MW)

  • Utilities must offer full retail credit with monthly rollover and annual payout options

Renewable Portfolio Standard

  • Florida does not currently have a mandatory RPS or renewable energy target

Interconnection Standards

  • Standardized rules in place for solar system interconnection via investor-owned utilities
